The trek to Sykes Hot Springs is about 10-miles one way along the Pine Ridge Trail. This is a great backpacking trip, but can be done as an out-and-back hike from the campgrounds at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park if you're really moving. The official Sykes Hot Springs camp is across the river and to the right. We were told the best sights were to the immediate left hiking down stream toward the hot springs.

Be warned that this is not to be considered this kid-friendly environment. The Pine Ridge Trail #3E06 continues past Sykes for 14 more miles but gets significantly more treacherous. Wild Willy’s Hot Springs is my favorite of the natural hot springs in California! This is the one I was talking about at the start of this article. I love these because they are located in the middle of a large field with 360 sweeping views of the mountains.
