If any of this spell’s area overlaps with an area of light created by a spell of 2nd level or lower, the spell that created the light is dispelled. So, since only nonmagical light can't illuminate the area of Darkness, and Continual Flame was cast as a third level spell, it illuminates the area and isn't dispelled. Can you cast Continual Flame on an object then break the object into a bunch of continual flame pieces? What then happens if you cast mending on the pieces afterwards? How large of an object can you cast continual flame on? Is there a maximum dimension in any length, or can it just not be touching any other object when you cast the spell?
